Course Description

In modern society there are many kinds of statistics data, which relate not only to social science (economics, business, education, e. t. c.) but to sports, medicine, biology, and so on. We will try to get some information from these statistics data for our own purposes. For this, we have to grasp the features of the data at first and then arrange them in order to what kind of analysis we would conduct. Statistics will show us the methods for this kind of arrangement (which will be called as statistical analysis methods).
In this course (Statistics I, II), we will learn several kinds of statistical analysis methods and get acquainted with how to choose an appropriate method from them for the specific analytical purpose.
Following to the spring term, we will learn more accurate analytical methods based on the probability theory, such as statistical inferences.
Every lecture provides a quiz session for understanding the lecture more deeply.
