Course Description

In this class, students who have no former knowledge of French will be able to learn the basics of the language, following a cutting-edge method, developed both in Québec and in France. Contrarily to most textbooks, the one used in class (Interactions 1, CLE International) will allow students to practice the language orally from the beginning of their studies, in order to build an “internal grammar”, the grammatical and written elements per say coming only afterwards. The students will be encouraged to communicate with their classmates during every lesson, using simple patterns that will become more and more sophisticated according to the progress of the students. They will also have to read simple texts, discover important information in them and transmit it to their classmates. Writing will not be forgotten, students having to write small texts according to the information they will have obtained earlier.
