Course Description

This lecture mainly depends on a bottom up study of the energy issues in the world. In brief, energy issues from both supply and consumption side, analyzing energy supply/consumption structure, present condition of the primary energy such as oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear power and renewable energies. Besides, we will study the structure of the two different players in the market, i.e. IOC (International Oil Companies) and NOC (National Oil Companies, such as Chinese oil majors), which will lead to the understanding of the international oil market. We will find that the understanding of the features of the IOC and NOC business activities, and the relation of the two will eventually give us a better grasp of the relation between energy supply/consumption and economic development.
