Course Description

This course aims at studying the Spanish fine arts and society. A basic knowledge of Spanish history and Catholicism is important therefore the cultural background will be detailed in class.
 In the spring course, the lecture is focused on the influence of the Roman heritage, the medieval /Islamic art and the Counter-Reformation on the Spanish culture.Various masterpieces, architecture, world heritage are presented through PowerPoint and TV program.
 Final grade will be based on comments on every lecture, analysis of artwork and term-end examination.
