This course focuses on the intellectual history of early modern Japan (17th to 19th ct.). It offers students an introduction to a wide range of primary sources from different intellectual traditions (Confucianism, Buddhism, Dutch Studies etc.) and research methods in field of intellectual history. Students are encouraged to conduct their own research projects (these can be designed as graduation projects).
This course is the continuation of "Nihon shiso enshu I". Students will continue to conduct their research projects which they outlined in the first part of the course.
