Course Description

We will analyse and translate together one entire film (ensemble cast, approximately 150 minutes) and make our own Japanese version of the script. During the spring semester, we will work on the first half of the film.
In each class, we will be…
- watching approximately five minutes of the film
- dictating and shadowing the five-minute clip
- translating the clip into Japanese
- discussing & analysing the clip in groups
- presenting the outcome in front of the class
- choosing the best possible translation as a class
- voice-overing the clip in Japanese
