Course Description

The American sociologist C. Wright Mills wrote that sociological imagination enables us to understand history, the life of the individual, and the intersection of both in society. He also stated that the intellectual endeavor of research into society cannot be fully achieved without returning to the issue of the life of the individual, the history of society, and the intersection of the two (The Sociological Imagination).
In the study of sociology, it is essential to become familiar with The Sociological Imagination. In Sociological Academic Writing I and II, students, who have passed university entrance exams and are now studying at university, will develop an understanding of how their individual lives interact with the history of human society. They will develop this understanding by reading and summarizing historical sociology literature relating to the university. This process is also important for helping students reconfirm why we study sociology in the faculty of literature in contemporary society.
