Course Description

This is a seminar class for the first-year students in Department of Sociology who are interested in obtaining advanced academic skills in their field. This course especially put a premium on improving the students' abilities and skills in making a verbal presentation on their academic ideas that they have developed through reading books and other related materials concerned with major topics of sociology and other social sciences, like Politics, Economics and so on. For that purpose, the students will mainly read books and, if necessary, journal articles, and have discussions about them in group work, and then make two presentations. The first presentation will be conducted in the class and the second one will be given in the joint session of the Honours Program.
