Course Description

The aim of this course is to let students know the basics about the criminal procedure law. Students must have learned the Penal Code so far, which is the basic substantive law. The criminal procedure law stipulates, under the due process of law, how the investigation is conducted, how a criminal will be prosecuted or non-prosecuted(=this course), followed by the trial system including evidence law(=the latter course). As an ex-public prosecutor and now a defense counsel myself, I will occasionally talk about real criminal cases intending that students be interested in criminal offences and its procedure.
