Course Description

The purpose of this subject is to help students understand the purpose and method of museum studies, their composition, the history of museum developement, and the social role of museums. In the developement history of museums, social and ideological backgrounds are lectured. Students will be required to learn the role, history, organization and administration of Japanese museums. In this subject, the museum laws and related laws of Japan, and recommendations with regulations concerning museums by UNESCO and ICOM are referred to as materials.
