Course Description

In this course, Students are expected to learn basic knowledge of Western philosophy. Western philosophy is originated from Greco-Roman thoughts, and continues through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, establishing the base of modern philosophy. As understanding Western philosophy is crucial element to learn the Western world, this course enables students to speculate the Western cultures more deeply. In this course, we shall read Sophie’s World as the main textbook while tracing back the history of Western philosophy. Hopefully you will enjoy intriguing dialogues between Sophie and her mentor and interesting plot of the text.
