Course Description

Nowadays, tourism means more than mere activities such as distraction, rest and entertainment, and it is developing as indispensable element in the life of modern people. And in order to understand the significance of modern tourism, it is required to understand the historical and social perspectives to leisure and labor. In this lecture, we will explore the social function of leisure from the viewpoint of history, and examine the meaning of tourism in "leisure society".
