Course Description

This course aims to cultivate techniques for reading not only Western history but also historical literature by carefully reading Eric Williams' 'Capitalism and slavery' which is said to be a milestone in the study of world history. By fully understanding every detail of an esoteric book, you will be able to gain insight to select the appropriate literature for future historical studies, and you will be able to read many books smoothly. It is a little difficult, but I will read it slowly, so please struggle with this classic masterpiece.

・Classes are conducted in the form of exercises. Students must read the relevant sections of the text they subscribe to on the day in advance and clarify their questions and impressions before attending the class.
・Students must report at least once or twice. If you are assigned to the reporting role, summarize the appropriate sections of the text that you will be reading that day and summarize your own issues.
・Based on the report of the reporter, the participants and teachers will discuss and deepen their understanding
