Course Description

A research reading seminar examining historical issues of Japan. Topics include the issue of Comfort Women and the current relationship between Japan and South Korea. The primary goal of this course is to learn that there are a variety of views on history. Secondly, students will learn that it is not easy for people of different nation-states to share a common historical view. The third goal is to learn that people can be reconciled when they honestly look at their history.
