Course Description

This class provides an overview of the history of the United States, Japan's oldest country since modern times. There are few opportunities to learn American history in the world history classes until high school, and there are not many American history classes in general in Japanese universities. Take advantage of your entrance to the Department of History at Teikyo University to study the history of the United States.
Learn about the history behind the formation of the United States and how its founding philosophy has developed due to changes in the country's domestic situation and diplomatic position. (* Studying at a university is called "study".)
The United States of America was an independent nation in the 18 century, so its history is much shorter than that of Japanese history or of ancient Eastern history. But a very "historical" country is the United States. It is no exaggeration to say that world history is condensed into its short history.
The first semester of the Special Lecture on Western History, 5C-I, covers history from the colonial period to the Civil War.
