Course Description

This course treats the 'Life of Alexander' written by Plutarch, famous author of biographies of the ancient great men in the Greek and Roman World. Students are required to deliberately read the text, distinguish the reality and fiction, and understand the bias in the image of Alexander that reflected the sense of value of the Roman authors. This is the process of the critical reading of the historical text, which will lead students to recognize Alexander's reign in the background of the ancient Greek and Oriental world.
