Course Description

This course aims to introduce students to a selection of literary works both in Japan and Britain. We will discuss these works in relation to their socio-cultural and political context. The students’ critical engagement with literary traditions across cultural and linguistic boundaries will develop their critical reading skills. Students will also demonstrate familiarity with Japanese and British literatures and methods of analyzing these literary works from a comparative perspective.
