Course Description

In this class students will learn the genre of social realism in English-speaking film. Especially students will study the daily life of the working class represented by the 20th century England and Irish film. While watching film, we will enjoy learning the key characteristics of culture, politics, and music. While watching film and considering each theme [gender, class system, racial discrimination] we will learn British culture and the characteristics of British society. We will understand how to see film more critically and to consider various cultural, political and social phenomena hidden in film scenes. It is expected students will actively exchange views through criticizing the film.
