Course Description

In recent years, with the development of information technology (IT), digital information has come to be used in a variety of professions.

At the same time, however, as the sending and receiving of digitized messages through global networks has become so commonplace, there are few opportunities to think carefully about how digital technology and the bits of information it represents are used in various professions and under what technologies, and how they benefit society.

With the advancement of informatization, information-related jobs have come to exist in every occupation, and the information industry, which supports it, has become one of the major industrial sectors. As a result, the need for information-related human resources is increasing, and the workers who respond to this need to be aware of and think about "information" as a job and understand the industry.

In light of this situation regarding information and occupations, this lecture will examine the main information technologies in use today, and look at examples of how they are being used in specific occupations and as services. By doing so, we will aim to acquire knowledge and ideas about information as a member of society, and to acquire qualities and abilities that can be utilized in work that deals with information.
