Course Description

This class gives an overview of the history of the United States, which is the oldest country with which Japan has known since modern times. There are not many opportunities to study American history in the world history classes up to high school, but there are not many opportunities to study American history in general at Japanese universities. In this class, students learn the history of the United States through the genealogy of successive presidents. Learn about the history of the formation of the United States of America and how its founding principles evolved in response to the changing domestic situation and diplomatic position of the United States. (* Learning at university is called "study"). 2020 is the year of the United States presidential election. Let me take this opportunity to give you an overview of the presidents of the United States of America and their eras. The first half of Foreign History I covers history from colonial times to the Civil War.
