Course Description

In the fall semester of this course, we further discuss the demographic issues in today’s Japan that markedly affect the economy. Themes specific to Japan’s population decline, including future population projections, widening regional disparity, replacement migration, and foreign migrant workers, will be explored. A major subject in this semester is the impact of foreigners, since foreign residents in contemporary Japan and new immigrants in the future are expected to make significant contributions to the country in an era of population decline.
