Course Description

Population decline is a very serious issue in contemporary Japan, and it will continue for many years as a consequence of long-term low fertility in the rapidly aging society. The mono-polar concentration of population into Tokyo is also a big concern. These issues are not simply demographic trends but also problems affecting economic and social conditions. The objective of this seminar is to clarify recent demographic issues and their impact on Japan’s society and economy.
