Course Description

This course is primarily an overview of the history of economic life in Western Europe and the United States. and it introduces our students to the subject matter and methodology of economic history. Economic history uses concepts and theories from the social sciences as a starting point for studying the development of real economies and understanding them in their psychological, philosophical and cultural contexts. Our students gain a real understanding of Thorstein Veblen's analysis of technological change.
