Course Description

In conventional archaeology,we had focused mainly on ancient history,on which we had limited literary materials.However,lately,investigations and researches on early-modern history have actively been conducted.This lecture is aimed at learning the philosophy of archaeology by presenting the achievements of historical archaeology focused on the ages after the Kamakura period,such as the ways cities and castles existed,techniques for exploitations or mining,the states of producing,distributing or consuming of supplies,and spiritual aspects observed in the burial system or religions.
