Course Description

The subject, Constitution: Special Topics I, focuses on reminding the students of their responsibility for refining and revising the constitution as sovereign rulers of this democratic nation. The Constitution of Japan was quickly drafted by the UN occupation army in just 9 days from February 4th to 12th, 1946. The constitution was established in November of the year without sufficient period for proofreading and reconsideration; nevertheless, even indispensable amendments have not been proposed to the Japanese people for more than 74 years, ever since the enforcement.
In the spring term, we will reexamine Chapter 1(Emperor), Chapter 2(National securities) and Chapter 3(Human rights).
The students are expected to perform in an active learning approach.
