Course Description

This course is one of the teacher-training courses (related to understanding of theory and teaching methods of moral education).
Moral education is becoming one of the biggest concerns of the public in today’s society, and teachers are increasingly expected to take responsibility for children's moral development.
This course will explore the fundamental issues of moral education in schooling through examining the historical and philosophical context of Japanese moral education and analyzing the classroom practices of moral subject (Dotoku).
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following :
- Recognize and recall educational policy overviews and practical issues related to school moral education practices.
- Acquire instructional skills necessary for School moral education through research of teaching materials, preparation of lesson plans for "Special Subject Moral(Dotoku)", and discussion and reviews of the plans.
