Course Description

Students will set their own themes related to various historical matters from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period based on their own interests, thoroughly research books, articles, and historical materials related to these themes, summarize them, and make presentations. Through preparation for the presentation, students will learn how to find reference materials and articles, and how to handle and read historical materials. We will also deepen our understanding of the historical background of each period, and consider the linkage with political and social conditions. Students will take turns to moderate the presentations, while other students will actively participate in the discussions based on their preparatory studies on the theme.
