Course Description

In first-year Life Design and second-year Educational Research Literacy, students volunteer at daycare centers during their summer vacation. Based upon interests in childcare and awareness of relevant issues, both of which they gain from the experience of volunteering at a daycare center, we will carry out observation of childcare via a visit to a kindergarten. Students will enrich their understanding of childcare through the observation of childcare and the environment of the kindergarten－which is different from that of a daycare center. The same holds true for the involvement of teachers in childcare and the behavior of children when comparing kindergartens and daycare centers. This course will be held as an intensive course during the university’s summer vacation period (scheduled for the first two weeks of September). However, the first class will be held in April to provide guidance.
