Course Description


Western legal systems are generally divided two-fold: i) a Civil Law system and ii) a Common Law system. Germany and France apply the former, as well as Japan. In contrast, the United States, the United Kingdom and the nations of the Commonwealth adopted the latter system. In this lecture, we will focus with particular view on the legal system of the U.S. in Common Law system.

The purpose of this lecture is as following: i) you will come to understand and can be able explain the Federal Constitution, and ii) you understand and can explain issues that are regarded as controversial (i.e., ‘hot button’), in American society today.
