Course Description

Students are required to acquire technical knowledge on private international law in this course. Private international law is a field of law where we face issues about (1) whether a case can be brought before Japanese courts or (2) which national law should be applied to the case in question, when legal problems arise in an international marriage or international transaction. In this course, students learn the whole picture of this field and its basic concepts and deepen their understanding on judicial resolution of cases of legal relations involving international aspects with reference to actual cases mainly in the field of international family law and international trade law.
