Course Description

In our society, many people work and make their living through employment. In employment relationships, however, employees potentially face myriad troubles without proper regulations because of their dependency on employers. “Labor & Employment Law” provides regulations in order to remedy any such trouble and to enable workers to live with dignity.
Labor & Employment law in Japan is double-folded: 1) Employment law concerns labor contracts and protection of employees; 2) Labor law regulates the relationship between trade unions and employers. This lecture will focus on labor law and provides the elementary knowledge concerning concerted activities, collective bargaining and collective bargaining agreements.
