Course Description

Using a video with the theme of "Traveling Around the World in English," students will be exposed to a variety of “Englishes” used around the world, learn about other cultures, and improve their English pronunciation and expression skills. Since pronunciation improvement is an important goal of this class, each student or pair will be asked to explain a situation of the DVD video in their own words (in English) while the voice is turned off and the video is shown, so be sure to practice in preparation. In addition, to further explore and increase their understanding of the culture of the country being covered, students will be asked to conduct research and make a presentation about the country.
