Course Description

This class will examine the many forces, in particular from the perspective of the US-Japan bilateral relationship, that shaped and are shaping Japan economically and commercially from the Meiji period to today. Important economic and trade concepts will be introduced to provide students with an analytical framework for examining and understanding the many transformations of Japan’s industrial and services sectors. A wide range of historical and present-day trade topics (Fall semester), e.g., cryptocurrency, will be covered.
