Course Description

The aim of this class is to acquire specialized knowledge and understanding of modern and contemporary Japanese culture, traditional culture, and Japanese cultural thought, based on an understanding of knowledge of traditional culture through folklore.In this class, students will learn about the origins of the study of Japanese folklore, the spread of diverse folklore materials, and research methods.Folklore is the study of investigating and analyzing events that we do as actions, possess as knowledge, and hold as ideas in our daily lives.
In order to understand the phenomena that are familiar to us or used to be familiar to us, in the second semester, we will lecture on the folklore materials in Yugi area, Hachioji City where Teikyo University is located.
