Course Description

This course aims to provide students with an understanding of traditional culture through folklore, and to acquire specialized knowledge and understanding of modern and contemporary Japanese culture, traditional culture, and Japanese cultural thought.Folklore is the study of investigating and analyzing events that we do as actions, possess as knowledge, and hold as ideas in our daily lives.Students will understand not only the history and methodology of folklore, but also the basic knowledge of folklore so that they can collect folklore materials on their own.In the first semester, lectures will focus on academic history, research methods, research methodology, and overview of folk materials.
