Course Description

This course introduces the legal history on the Korean Peninsula to students taking this course.
The purpose of this lecture is to acquire the law and society of the pre-modern Korean Peninsula from the aspects of legal consciousness, the status system and legal ability, family relations and right to inherit property, commercial law, penal theory, and court system in Chosun dynasty, and to understand deeply of the legal system of modern Japan from a comparative law perspective.
