Course Description

 This course aims at studying the history of Spanish fine arts and society.
A basic knowledge of Spanish history and Catholicism is important therefore the cultural background will be detailed in class.
 In the spring course, the lecture is focused on the influence of the Roman heritage, the medieval /Islamic art and the Counter-Reformation on the Spanish culture. Various religious paintings, architecture and world heritage are presented by PowerPoint and video material. The grade will be based on homework by LMS, analysis of artwork and 2 papers.
