Course Description

The "Latin American Societies and Cultures I-IV" courses are designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Latin American culture and society, which has a close relationship with Japan. This "Latin American Societies and Cultures II" will approach the issues of development and inequality (economic gap). Latin America is a region rich in resources, but has serious problems of inequality. These seem to be contradictory, but in fact they are causally related, and the development of resources to satisfy human desires from the colonial period to the present day is the background of this relationship. In the lecture, we will explain the problem of inequality in detail, using various developments that have taken place in Cuba, Ecuador, and Bolivia as examples.
