English, a universal language, is vital for understanding the world's political and economic situation. Because government agencies, media, and businesses in many countries across the globe, including Japan, transmit information in English. Therefore, this class aims to help students understand the political economy of Japan and the world through reading newspapers, magazines, and other English news sources.
Background knowledge and familiarity with "Media English" are necessary to understand English news. Therefore, this class will start with familiar, relatively easy-to-read news stories about Japan and gradually move on to more complex topics.
