グローバル化した現在の社会において、世界共通語としての英語（English as a Lingua Franca)を習得することは、経済の領域で成功を収めるのに、非常に重要な要素であると考えられます。世界共通語としての英語という概念は、コミュニケーションの手段として使える英語であり、日本語のなまりがあったとしても通じればよいというものです。本授業では、ECCP選抜学生を対象に、レベルによって、英文法の基本、異文化理解、経済の基本、をそれぞれの軸とし、必要に応じた語彙の習得および音読を課すことを加えます。履修学生が全員、英語を用いることに抵抗感がなくなることを狙いとします。
履修学生のレベルによって到達目標は、異なります。初級のレベルの場合、基本文法の定着を主とし、中級のレベルでは、異文化を英語で学び、上級のレベルでは、経済学の基礎を英語で学びます。また、すべてのレベルで語彙力の増大と音読を重要視し、英語の運用力の向上を目標とします。授業内では、必ず英語を用いたスピーチを行う機会を設け、習得した言語を駆使できることを目標とします。なお、原則、授業は英語で行われます。
授業参加：１５％ 語彙テスト：１５％ 課題：１０％ 口頭試験：１０％ 筆記試験：５０％

英語のコミュニケーション能力育成については、地道な努力が必須です。指定された語彙を使えるレベルで習得し、次回の授業で学習する箇所の予習が要求されます。
英語を実際に使用することができるように積極的に授業参加することが条件です。受け身の学習ではコミュニケーション能力を育成することは不可であると心得てください。
