This course will be an introductory class on Development Economics and the Asian economy. In Development Economics Ⅳ, we will study Asian economic development, which has been characterized by its dynamic growth, diversity in growth performance, and deepening economic integration. We will develop an understanding of the structure and dynamics of the Asian economy. We will determine some details of the course after the first meeting. This course will be held in English.
The main purpose is to help students understand the basic theories of Development Economics and read the fundamental papers on economic development.
Participation in the class including discussions and presentations: 60%
Final presentation and report: 40%

There is no textbook in this course. The instructor will prepare handouts for the class.
Students are required to read the handouts and assigned papers before the class.
This course is participatory so that students are encouraged and required to participate actively in the class discussions. There will be lots of opportunity to discuss topics.
To better understand economic development, it is recommended that you learn more through the internet, newspapers, books, etc.
