Course Description

This course introduces students to some of the major issues in educational psychology. Topics may include the theory of learning, motivation, cognitive processes, and the methods of instructional design.
Class activities will be a combination of lectures, discussion and presentation. Writing reports will be required almost every week.
This course is related to educational goals 2,and 3 of General Basic Subjects.

Course Objectives

(1)Student will be able to explain the theory of learning and the process of learning.
(2)Student will be able to make the instructional design for teaching.
(3)Student will be able to do a presentation on the teaching plan.

Grading Policy

(1) Reports after class (30%)
(2) Learning portfolio (outcomes and reflections of learning) (50%)
(3) Final examination (20 %)
We will return the submitted items such as Learning portfolio, Reports and so on and give feedback. The final test will be explained on the LMS.

Requirements(Assignments)

As a pre-assignment, Students read the scope of the next lesson of the textbook and work
on advance tasks (about 1 hour each time) (2nd - 9th, 13th - 14th)
Students read the handouts work on advance tasks. (About 1hours each time)
The pre-assignment will be shown at the end of the lesson and will be uploaded to LMS.
As a post-assignment, students will prepare reports after class(about 1 hour) (11th-15th).
The post-assignment will be shown at the end of the lesson and will be uploaded to LMS.

Schedule

1The syllabus and the attention points on the course, the purpose of the course, the outline, the assessment method, etc. will be explained.
For their first assignment, students will think about the meaning of learning.
2Students will consider about the "human mind"
3Students will gain an understanding of psychology based on the previous assignment.
In addition, we will read literature and think about the "mechanism of information cognition”.
4Students will gain an understanding of "mechanism of information cognition” based on the previous assignment.
In addition, students will learn about the contents of various mechanisms of " learning".
5Students will create a learning plan with a simple example and understand "learning".
6Students will present the learning plan that they created last time and understand the significance of learning.
In addition, the students will understand the significance and content of motivation and readiness for learning.
7Students will learn the role of " 3-way communication" and "KR information" and create a report.
8Students will create assignments based on the content of the textbook about the mechanisms of learning (types of learning).
9Students will learn about the association theory (Pavlov's conditioned reflex theory, Thorndike's and Skinner's theories), the cognitive theory (Truman and Koehler's theory), and the cognitive theory.
In addition, students will learn about cognitive theories (Truman and Koehler's theory).
10Students will understand the difference between the association theory and the cognitive theory based on the previous content and specific examples.
Students will learn the role of 3-way communication and KR information in teaching and learning, and will be able to create assignments and explain their significance.
11Based on the issues of three-way communication and the role of KR information in teaching and learning.
In addition, students will understand "assessment and diagnosis".
12Students will learn how to create a learning plan based on ”instructional design” and create a specific plan.
