We shall learn the fundamentals of museum management which is required to realize "the museum for citizens", at first. Specifically, we shall learn themes such as management, investigation, evaluation, dispatch of information, and local creation, which are important to manage a museum, and lectures will be given about it. This course aims at the level in which each student can perform evaluation of the investigation, research, and promotion activities of a museum by himself/herself.
In the "Museology 2", we will learn about the theory of museum management. Contemporary museums are confronted with troubles such as linkage and cooperation with community. What kind of requirements are there to manage “the museum for citizens” under these circumstances? We will analyze this question from various viewpoints to support understanding of the students. Furthermore, the course aims not only at acquisition of qualifications, but also the acquisition of knowledge which is required to manage a museum as a citizen with good sense in the future.
Students will be valuated when they attend more than two-thirds of the course. Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:Term-end examination 50%, Practice for each lesson 40%, Report on museum tour 10%.
