Course Description

This course introduces students to the process of human growth throughout one's lifespan. Topics may include physical development, intellectual development, cognitive development, and the aging process.
Class activities will be a combination of lectures and discussion. Writing reports will be required almost every week.

Course Objectives

(1)Students will learn the development of the body and mind from birth to early childhood.
(2)Students will learn the development of the body and mind of adolescence, adulthood, and old age.
(3)Students will understand and Physical development and the theory of cognitive process.
(4)Students will understand the nearest region of development.
(5)Students will be able to explain the process of career development.

Grading Policy

(1) Reports after class (20%)
(2) Learning portfolio (outcomes and reflections of learning) (50%)
(3) Final examination (30 %)
We will return the submitted items such as Learning portfolio, Reports and so on and give feedback. The final test will be explained on the LMS.

Requirements(Assignments)

As a pre-assignment, Students review the content of educational psychology in first grade (about 6 hours).
Students read the scope of the next lesson of the textbook and work on advance tasks (about 30 minutes each time) (2nd - 14th).
The pre-assignment will be shown at the end of the lesson and will be uploaded to LMS.
Students will read the reference books and create reports. (8 hours).
As a post-assignment, students will prepare reports after class(about 1 hour) (2nd-14th).
The post-assignment will be shown at the end of the lesson and will be uploaded to LMS.

Note

It is the compulsory subject for the registrants of the teacher training course.
Students will use LMS.

1The syllabus and the attention points on course, the purpose of the course, the outline, the assessment method, etc. will be explained.
Students will learn about the concept of development.
2Students will watch the video and learn about the interaction between developmental genetic factors and the environment based on video.
3Students will learn about adolescent identity.
4Students will learn about career development in adolescence.
5Students will learn the importance of the characteristics of fetal life and the role of caregivers.
6Students will learn about physical development and exercise development in infancy.
7Students will learn about the characteristics of cognitive development in early childhood.
8Students will learn the development of childhood term and its importance.
9Students will learn the relationship between development of thought in childhood and further development of words. In addition, students will learn about "the nearest region of development".
10Students will learn about the development of social development in early childhood and childhood.
11Students will learn about abstract thinking in adolescence based on concrete examples.
12Students will learn about the characteristics of handicapped children and students.
13Students will learn about the importance of sexuality and social role in adulthood.
14Students will learn about the characteristics of old age.
15Final examination and explanation
Students will summarize the reflection of learning in sentences and write a final report.
