Course Description

The aim of this course is to help students acquire knowledge on information systems in the real world through specific examples. In this course, lectures are given in an omnibus format. Cooperating with TISA (Tochigi Information Service Industry Association), speakers are invited from information technology companies. For example, manufacturing industry, retail industry, logistics service providers, financial business, agriculture and so on.
In the last half of each class, students will discuss about what they learned in group settings.
This course is related to diploma policy DP1 and DP4C.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, students are expected to do following:
- To explain what kinds of information systems have been used in the real world and how they are implemented.
- To explain what kind of companies are in the information service industry.
- To explain what kinds of skills are required to implement these systems and how the skills relate to subjects in the department of Information and electronics engineering.

Grading Policy

To pass, students final reports must be accepted. The final grade will be calculated according to the following process: final report 50%, reflection posted on BBS of LMS 40%, and presentation or explanation 10%. Feedbacks on reflection are given via LMS.

Requirements(Assignments)

The theme of each class will be announced at least one week in advance. For preparation, students are expected to investigate about the theme and write summary of the investigation in their notes. After each class, students are expected to review the class and post the summary of the review on BBS of LMS. The preparation will take one hour and the review will take two hours.

Note

The themes and their order may be changed because lecturers are invited from IT companies. The schedule of lectures will be presented anew on the first class.
The course is conducted in Japanese.
