Course Description

Japanese islands will be focused as potential destinations of Japanese tourists. The geographical conditions, history, society/industries, and regional challenges of each island will be discussed based on the students' presentations. This class relates to DP1.

Course Objectives

The students will get the abilities to collect information on an area and to analyze them. They will also get the abilities to present their ideas and discuss them. These abilities are useful to consider the regional issues.

Grading Policy

Term examination (40%), short tests, short reports, discussions in the class (60% in total)

Requirements(Assignments)

All students are required to collect by himself/herself the reference materials as books, papers and reports about the histories and the situations of the islands.

Note

All the students are required to make one or more presentations and to participate actively in the discussions. The manner of the class operations will be discussed at the first meeting.
