Social research is a systematic collection and analysis of first hand data of social phenomena. It is an important part of the scientific method in sociological studies. In this course, we aim to develop students' knowledge of quantitative research methodology. The course is divided into three parts. Part one focuses on the nature of social research, part two deals with how we collect data, and part three introduces statistical techniques in data analysis.
After completing this course, students will be able to understand how social researchers use quantitative data to interpret social phenomena and how to use statistical measures and techniques.
