Course Description

  Based on the overall goal of "Method and technology for Education (including utilization of information equipment and teaching materials)" in the teacher's course core curriculum, this course is aimed to acquire basic knowledge and skills related to (1) educational methodology, (2) educational technology, (3) information equipment and teaching materials, necessary to foster the qualities and abilities required for children.
  Specifically, in order to learn fundamental theories on educational methods and technologies, and to cultivate practical educational ability based on them, the practice of integration of guidance and assessment is developed within the class and various students will learn teaching method, assessment method, lesson form, teaching materials etc. empirically. In addition, students will tackle lesson design based on instructional design and consider how to effectively utilize ICT. Furthermore, LMS will be utilized as appropriate to encourage students themselves to learn autonomously.
  This course is related to Diploma Policy "DP1".

Course Objectives

(1) Students will be able to overview the theory and history of teaching methods and describe what they think about education.
(2) Students will be able to understand the integration of teaching and evaluation and plan classes to motivate learning.
(3) Students will be able to design lessons based on the concept of instructional design.
(4) Students will be able to utilize ICT to develop learning instruction plans and teaching materials.
(5) Students will be able to understand the co-creation of teacher and student learning and work on classes.

Grading Policy

(1) Evaluation on learning portfolios (minutes papers, reports, learning map, reflection, etc. ) (40%)
 ・Minutes Paper : return, share as needed throughout the class and provide feedback.
 ・Report : evaluation and feedback using the rubric.
(2) Evaluation in small tests and routine exam (30%)
 ・answer explanation on LMS.
(3) Evaluation for Exercises 1 to 7 in Lesson Design (30%)
 ・evaluation and feedback using rubric.

Requirements(Assignments)

・ As an advance assignment for each session, prepare the textbook class range according to the instructions on the LMS, and then attend classes. (About 1 to 2 hours each)
・ As a 4th post-assignment, have your LMS solve the test questions in the test format. (About 1 hour)
・ As the 5th post-assignment, I will ask you to work on the report task and its evaluation. (About 3 to 5 hours)
・ Complete the exercises for each round as the 8th to 14th post-assignment. (About 1 hour each)
・ Improve your learning by looking back on the Minute Papers and Reflection Sheets. (About 30 minutes each)

Note

・ Be sure to attend the 1st guidance, as it explains the outline of the class, how to proceed, and the evaluation method.
・ Use personal computers and software such as document creation and spreadsheets to create learning tasks.
・ Coming late is strictly prohibited. Participation in the middle of a class may be annoying for other students and may not be able to participate in group work. Please do not hesitate to offer if you need a special response (disease, injury, disability, etc.).
