Museology 5 will be given on museum display theory. The purpose of creating a museum is to collect the objects and make them widely available to the society as well. The function of opening the collection of the museum to the public is called a display. The purpose of this class is to acquire basic knowledge about the components of the display, the classification of various display forms, and the management of the display environment, and to understand the series of museum display planning processes.
The objective of this class is to review the planning process for museum displays. In order to understand this, we will discuss about the concept of museum display, classification of display form, display design and components, and display environment management. Moreover, we will discuss about the activities at individual museums utilizing video materials as needed to deepen their understanding through actual museum tour.
Grade will be evaluated by summing up the evaluation consist of class comment card (20%), the preparation of class note (40%), and the essay writing test (40%) where notebooks can be brought in the exam. Acceptance criteria will be more than 60%. Absence more than 4 times will not be allowed due to this is a qualification course. In principle, no retest will be performed.
* A class note indicates a two-hole ring file (A4 size) that summarizes "class materials" and "memos recorded and organized by the student", etc. Notebook will be collected once in the latter half of the semester.
