授業の概要（ねらい） |
|
This class is conducted in English. The class provides a unique chance with Japanese students with English competence and international students to interact, discuss, and work together in a collaborative setting. This is a seminar-style class conducted by Problem Based Learning (PBL method). First, we will talk about the definition on “culture”, “communication”, “international communication”, or “verbal and nonverbal communication”. Secondly we will critically analyze textbooks that introduce or illustrate Japanese society and culture to international tourists, and explore problems. Students will be working in groups of their interest.

25% Participation and Preparedness
25% Quizzes and Writing Assignments
50% Mid-term and Final Examinations, Final Class reports
More than 5 time absents is not allowed.

This is not a class for passive students who want an easy credit. Students are expected to come to class on time, do homework, and actively participate for discussion or group work in the class.
